Our bullwhips are constructed with differing methods, depending on the length and style of the whip built. The Baby Bulls contain a bb-loaded core, one plaited belly with a 12 plait overlay. The whips known as the 12 plaiters contain either a 16 gauge electrical cord core or shot-loaded core, 1 plaited belly and an overlay in 12 strands. Those of the Tufwhip line will have a core of 14 gauge electrical cord, one plaited belly with a 16 plait overlay. The Noreast Standard Whips contain two plaited bellies over a 16 gauge electrical cord core or a shot-loaded core, ending in a 16 plait overlay.

In the past, the main differences between our shot-loaded whips & those with e-cord cores were weight & speed. The shot-loaded whips were generally heavier  & slower  moving. The construction of our whips has since been modified, and the weight difference between the two cores is very minimal, if any at all. Either core type can be increased in weight per customer request. The main difference between the two cores is flexibility. A whip with a shot-loaded core will feel a bit more broken in (more flexible) at first than a whip with an e-cord core. Yet over time, the e-cord will loosen up, becoming very flexible and allowing for a smooth flowing & easy handling whip.

Nylon whips have traditionally been known to contain shot-loaded cores, which many people have come to love & expect. The option to have this type core or an e-cord core is strictly customer preference.
